As a mark of respect Kyle’s family allowed his girlfriend to sort through his things in private, although we obviously offered to help if she wanted. She passed on the things she didn’t want to me to sort out. In doing so her Mum, Fiona, kindly planted some succulents (I’m not known for my gardening skills so they seemed the safest choice) in Kyle’s workboots. It was a lovely gesture that brought me to tears at the time (perhaps Feb/March 2016). It’s now March 2017 and I’m pleased to say they are still going strong! I think of Kyle every time I water them.
