Life of Kyle · Ways We Remember Kyle

Kyle’s Dragonflies

When I joined the Compassionate Friends in early 2016 (maybe March or April), they explained that the symbol of the butterfly they use for logos etc represents the person who has died as transforming. But somehow I couldn’t see Kyle as a butterfly. A Dragonfly is what he is, also the symbol of transformation, and everywhere during the dry season in Darwin, where Kyle was born.

“The Dragonfly Spirit brings acute awareness, gratitude for the small things, and balance. Dragonflies change direction swiftly and are comfortable in the air as well as in water. Your Spirit Dragonfly can help you find joy in the simplest things and feel the power of life”

I also discovered a dragonfly bookmark, I had bought about 10 years ago and forgotten I even had and was inspired in Sept 2016 to paint a golden dragonfly representing Kyle, for my Sanctuary.

Lately I see dragonflies (real ones) everywhere I go, and they often make sure that they let me know they are there, passing right in front of my windscreen or line of vision. It makes me feel that Kyle is around me. There was one at Edgecombe Brothers winery on my recent birthday, another when I picked up BABYCAKES (my motorbike) and at other times when I have perhaps needed a bit of comfort and reassurance. (He also sends me feathers with the same effect, but I know they are for his son, Cash).

I bought a dragonfly with a blue crystal, and then I saw another one (reddish brown) with a white crystal in Crystal Realm so I couldn’t resist. On Kyle’s birthday 2016 my friend Jodie (from Compssionate Friends) gave me a green dragonfly for Kyle and his sister, Christina, gave me a long string of silver metal dragonflies. I have now hung them in the area where Kyle’s waterfall is….they are lovely.
