Every day without Kyle is a challenge, and there is not a single day I don’t think of him and my heart aches. But on his birthday it is always a bit harder thinking of what might have been for him. Not getting to see his son, Cash, doesn’t help and it would mean so much to see him and hold him on his Dad’s birthday – but I still hold hope in time when he is older he will find his father’s family who are patiently waiting and love him dearly.

This year the family met at Pinnaroo to celebrate with afternoon tea, and a few bubbles. Christina (Kyle’s older sister) brought a little birthday sign, and I brought two lots of flowers from Vince and I and from my Sister, Jacky, and my Mum and Dad.

Christina brought a portable speaker so we could listen to the songs from Kyle’s funeral as well as songs he loved, and some that are meaningful to us without him. A few tears were obviously shed along the way and it was a very pleasant celebration of what would have been his birthday here – hopefully he still got to celebrate in Heaven!
