4th Sept 2022 Father’s Day

It’s funny how one day can both be happy and sad at the same time. I am so glad that my Father, Jock Herriott, is still with us as it was touch and go the year Kyle died (2016) when Dad fell through a roof in Darwin and was in ICU. He’s had some ongoing health issues and given us a few more scares over the past few years, so I am grateful and thankful that I can wish him a Happy Father’s Day and spoil him. The flip side of that is that is Vince’s Dad, John Partridge, died in 2017 (we had 3 funerals in 18 months, Kyle, Vince’s Mum and then his Dad) so we spend Father’s day visiting Midland Cemetery to pay our respects to the only other man I have called Dad.

Perhaps the saddest part of Father’s Day for me is that my own son, Kyle, never got to see his son who was born 7 weeks after he died. So he never got to share a Father’s Day, that’s why I always visit and take some flowers for Kyle on Father’s Day.  I wish we could see my little Ginger Nut Biscuit and tell him all about his Father and his heritage. Fingers crossed we will one day!

Happy Father’s Day Kyle!
